Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi

The Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi, a subsidiary body of the Punjab Arts Council, is an autonomous cultural organization established to foster the growth and development of music, dance, and drama in Punjab. The Akademi operates under the supervision of the Punjab Arts Council, which is registered under the Registration of Societies Act XXI of 1860.

Objectives and Functions

• Development of Arts: To coordinate and develop the arts of music, dance, and drama in Punjab.
• Research and Education: To encourage and support research in these artistic fields and to establish well-equipped libraries, museums, and other resources to support this research.

Structure and Governance

The Punjab Sangeet Natak Akademi functions under the guidance of the Punjab Arts Council, and its operations are governed by a General Council, an Executive Committee, and various other sub-committees. The headquarters of the Akademi is based at the premises of the Punjab Arts Council in Chandigarh.
